Community Development

2006 – 2012       Founder and Director, KALANGAN KULTURA MEDIA.

Kalangan is an NGO that works with communities and individuals in informal education for kids and capacity building through various art and cultural media, especially theatre. Their primary work has been with marginal communities in Central Java in particular in rural areas and most specifically with youth. This has included running an informal education centre program and developing a critical pedagogy theatre method to support youth leadership in making local initiatives for change programs. 

2006 – 2008       Community Organiser, LSKAR (The Institute for Equal Act and Reflection Studies).

LSKAR is a NGO that works in wide range of community development program. The primary work has been with peasant communities in Central Java. This has included various community based planning and action program in agriculture, sanitation, women empowerment, human rights, children health, disaster risk management and conservation. I worked in recovery program after earthquake that took place in Jogjakarta and southern central java in May 2006.

2006                     Trainer and Facilitator, PLAN Indonesia.

Worked with local community as a trainer and facilitator in an environmental education and campaign program through critical pedagogy theatre workshop and performance.

2002 – 2006        Co Founder and Coordinator, Alternative Learning Media RUMAH BAMBU.

Rumah Bambu is a collective that works in informal education area. The primary work has been facilitating a community based learning program for children from under privileged backgrounds in several villages in central Java.

1991 – 1992           Co Founder and Coordinator, ITRY (The Institute of Popular Theatre) Indonesia.

ITRY is a collective that works in community empowerment and advocacy by using critical pedagogy theatre method.
